Varnish
Learn precisely what Varnish is. Get to know a lot more about web accelerators and their role.
Varnish is a data caching platform, which is occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy. It is a website accelerator tool that can accelerate the loading speed of a website by up to one thousand percent, based on the content itself. Each time a visitor opens any page on a website that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server in case the visitor opens it again. Thus, the browser request from the visitor is not handled by the web server and the page will open significantly faster, since the Varnish caching platform can serve data many times faster than any web server software. The result is a substantially faster loading site, which means a greatly improved website browsing experience. When any of the cached web pages is updated on the live site, the data that Varnish saves in its memory is ‘refreshed’ as well, so the website visitors will not see out-of-date info.
Varnish in Web Hosting
If you host your Internet sites in a web hosting account with our company, you will be able to add Varnish with several clicks from your Control Panel. The content caching platform comes as an upgrade with all our shared web hosting packages and you can choose the number of the websites that will use it and the maximum storage space that will be available for the cached content. The two upgradeable features in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the amount of memory and the number of instances and they’re not directly linked to each other, so you can choose if you need lots of memory for one large-size website or less memory for multiple smaller ones. You can use the full potential of the Varnish caching platform in case the websites use a dedicated IP address. With the hosting Control Panel, you can easily start/restart/disable an instance, delete the cached contents independently for each website that employs the Varnish platform or check a comprehensive system log.
